2014 NEA Jazz Masters: Richard Davis

Today, I pay tribute to 2014 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master, Richard Davis. I’m proud to say that I know Richard, who is generally considered to be the most famous bass player in the world. This man has played with a Who’s Who of great artists: Sarah Vaughan, Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Janis Ian, Van Morrison and Bruce Springsteen, just to name a few. For the last 40 years, he has also been a music professor at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. We’re having a little party next week to celebrate Richard’s award. Can’t wait to hear more of his stories! Congratulations Richard!! For more go to his website http://richarddavis.org/
